In September 2006, Danny Trussell and a business partner started a remodeling company with a truck and a garage full of tools. Their idea was a simple one: a house isn’t really finished until it feels like home.
This month, Trussell’s Transformations turns 20. We’ve grown into a family-owned team of 17, we’ve completed approximately 8,500 projects across Albuquerque and the surrounding area, and that simple idea is still the reason we show up every day. Here’s a look back at how we got here, what hasn’t changed along the way, and where we’re headed next.
It Started in a Garage
When Danny opened the doors in 2006, the business was focused primarily on remodeling, and the whole operation ran out of his family’s garage. There was no showroom, no fabrication shop, and no big crew. There was just a promise to do the work well and treat people right.
That promise has carried us a long way. Twenty years later, it still guides how we quote a job, how we run a crew, and how we take care of a homeowner after the last box is unpacked.
Growing One Room at a Time
We’ve never been in a rush to be everything to everyone. Each step we’ve taken was about doing right by the people we work for.
In 2008, we opened our own granite fabrication shop, which meant we could bring stonework in house instead of outsourcing it. In 2015, we moved into our current Albuquerque location. In 2017, we added cabinet lines, rounding out what had started as a remodeling-only operation.
Today, what began as kitchen and bathroom remodeling has grown into a full slate of home improvement services, including cabinets, granite and quartz countertops, flooring, and roofing. Everything is delivered under one roof, so you don’t have to juggle five different companies to finish one home.
What Hasn’t Changed in 20 Years
A lot has changed since 2006, but a few things are exactly the same.
Our own people do the work. Most of the work inside your home is done by our own employees, not rotating subcontractors. On bigger projects, where several stages and trades are involved, that makes a real difference. You see the same faces throughout instead of a new crew showing up every week, and there’s one team responsible for the whole job.
Honesty is still the backbone of our business. It’s the first value we list, and it’s the one we lean on when a project gets complicated. Quality, safety, customer satisfaction, and respect for others follow close behind.
We’re still a family business. Danny and Christy Trussell own the company today, and family shows up in every part of it.

We also hold a New Mexico GB-98 general contractor’s license, and we’re members of both the Home Builders Association of Central New Mexico and the Natural Stone Institute. Those credentials reflect two decades of standing behind our work.

Behind that number are nearly 8,500 kitchens, bathrooms, floors, and rooflines across the metro area. Every one of them belongs to a homeowner who had a vision for how their space could work better, and every one of them was shaped by the same hands-on approach that started it all.

Inside, you’ll find rows of cabinet styles and door profiles to run your fingers across, slabs of granite and quartz in colors and veining you have to see to believe, hardware finishes lined up for side-by-side comparison, and flooring samples underfoot.
